29/11/01 NEW STYLE, NEW CONTROL, NUCAN!
Gay Search writer and Garden Editor - Sainsbury’s Magazine September issue 2005. My favourite tool is a plastic watering can made by NuCan. It isn’t particularly stylish but it is incredibly useful, and stands out from other cans as the spout is operated by a push button on the handle. This means that not only does the water stay inside while you’re carrying it, you can deliver the water to exactly where its needed, and it controlled amounts. No more flattening seedlings with that first uncontrolled gush! For the same reason it’s excellent for watering containers inside and out.
Helen Yemm - Daily Telegraph Saturday July 2nd 2005. Finally….. since we will have to use them a lot, the choice of watering cans is important. I find that the oval shaped plastic cans with a handle over the top (beloved by the French and now readily available here) are easier to use than the traditional, cylindrical English style ones. These are more attractive but can bang onto your legs and are impossible to use one handed. I can particularly recommend a push button watering can by NuCan, which is both lightweight and controllable.
Gay Search in Sainsbury's Magazine - Autumn 2002 "Back in the summer I
was given a Nucan - a revolutionary watering can with a pus "Well, it now has a baby brother - the Pinpoint, a smaller, very stylish blue-grey version that is the perfect present for indoor gardeners. This one also has a sliding lid, so that after you've filled it, there is no chance at all of spilling water on the carpet."
BBC Gardener's World - October 2002
Amateur Gardening "Looks set to become a must-have item with gardeners."
Peter Seabrook in
Nurseryman & Garden Centre - 9th September 2002 "(At GLEE) There are at least three new products which look to have short odds in the 2003 selling stakes... "The Pinpoint (NuCan) push button can for watering houseplants looks a likely Christmas present line. This should stop overflows onto window sills and is perfect for flower arrangers topping up vases with water."
Charlie Dimmock - Mail on Sunday (picture from Amateur Gardening)
"The chap who designed it tells me it is fantastic for barbecues - if you fill it up with white wine."
Pelargonium News
(published by The British Pelargonium and Geranium Society) - Spring 2002 "Over the years many items have been advertised in the horticultural media as new and revolutionary in an attempt to make us part with our money and after purchase those items are found to be pure gimmicks and end up at the back of the potting shed never to see the light of day again. "Now for something that really is revolutionary and not just a gimmick for I have been trialling a new watering can called NuCan that was launched at GLEE last September by none other than Sir Norman Wisdom. The NuCan delivers push-button watering without wasting a drop for it features a unique flow control mechanism, operated by a push button which allows complete control of the watering process. The push button activates the patented valve system and releases water exactly where it is needed at just the right pressure. For us pelargonium enthusiasts who know the importance of keeping water off the leaves of our plants, especially in winter, the NuCan's unique watering control allows you to even water plants right at the back of the greenhouse benches without spilling a drop."
Saga Magazine - February 2002 "After 100 years, a simple idea puts an end to aching back and soaked feet. "Sometimes the best ideas are the simplest and in technology terms you don't get much simpler than a watering can...Could any new model improve on a design classic? "The recently launched NuCan is set to try. With a unique push-button operation, this light plastic can enables gardeners to control the quantity and force of the water leaving the spout...It is ideal for watering containers, where conventional cans can wash out the compost, and it causes less strain on arms and wrists.
"...for the first time in more than a century, (traditional watering cans) have a serious new rival."
Gardens Made Easy - February 2002 "Watering spillages can be annoying and even dangerous if you're killing weeds in a border or spot-feeding plants with a fertiliser. This new 7ltr watering can stops puddles by plugging the nozzle until you need to water. Fill it up, point the nozzle - and press the handle."
Retirement Magazine - February 2002 "During the winter months, many houseplants are in their dormant period and need just enough water to keep moist, but it's often hard to control how much is delivered from a normal watering can. This is where the NuCan...is invaluable."
Easy Gardening Magazine - May 2003
Liked the Pinpoint so much that they decided to offer their readers the chance to win one of 30! |
